About Sweetheart

Precious Sweetheart is ready to find her furever home! Sweetheart is a 7 month old mixed breed pup who weighs approximately 30 pounds. She got her name partly because of her super sweet personality, and partly for the little white heart she has right in the middle of her forehead. Sweetheart was surrendered to us by her owner who just didn't have the time to give her the attention she needed. She has lots of puppy energy, but can also be shy and timid at first meeting and until she gets to know you. Once she is comfortable with you, she is a joyful fun girl who comes running for hugs and attention and will follow you around happily. She loves playing and hanging out with other dogs of all sizes, and would especially love to have a young playful doggy friend in her new home. She is also good with kids (although her energy may be too much for little kids) and is cat tolerant (she hasn't quite figured them out yet, but doesn't bother them at all). Sweetheart wants to be a lap dog but still looks for permission and encouragement from her human. She will sit with you on the couch or on the bed and slowly move over to you until her head is on your leg. She is a sponge for attention and love. She just soaks it up and seems surprised when she gets it. She sleeps in the big bed at night cuddled up with her foster mom. Sweetheart just started playing with toys and carries a ball around with her everywhere. It was slow going with her leash training at first, but she is doing much better with lots of praise and encouragement. We absolutely recommend a harness vs a collar to reduce fearful pulling. She does require a fenced yard. Sweetheart is timid with new situations but warms up to people very quickly. She has not had any potty accidents in her foster home since her first night and knows how to use a doggy door. She is not a barker, except when she is playing with the other dogs. Sweetheart wants the love and attention so much. Giving her patience and time in her new home will allow the full, happy, playful lap dog to emerge! She is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration.
