About Mac

Mac was up for adoption and had a few good contenders interested in adoption over summer BUT he was taken off Adoption status due to weight loss. After working with a Vet we have gotten good weight put back on Mac and he's starting to get back to his old self. Mac REALLY needs to find his Forever Handler/Owner as he is not thriving in a rescue environment. He is seeking that strong bond with one strong and confident owner/handler! Mac Must be adopted by K9 Handler,trainer, Very experienced working dog handler or retired handler. He is NOT A PET QUALITY DOG, as he has strong working lines and will require an owner who can handle a dog of his intensity, intelligence, high drive, high energy, very dominant and testy personality. ***The best Adopter for Mac would have strong working dog experience,be very active, be comfortable with using a shock collar, have a lot of property for Mac to live on, be a very structured and firm individual with no other dogs(possibly a neutral female could work), no small children and be looking for a companion that could patrol the property. Mac is a 2.5 year old(Oct 2018 Birthday), M-neutered, Up To Date on Vaccines, on flea/hw prevention, HIGH ENERGY, High Drive, East German/Czech line German Shepherd. He is Crate trained, muzzle trained, house trained, Leash trained and off leash trained. He is NOT PET QUALITY and should not be in a home with ANY children unless the handler is very experienced! He must be adopted to a working home that understands how much exercise, brain stimulation, structure and work these dogs take daily. **He was surrendered due to serious Food Aggression and Possesive Behavior. He did a very serious bite on his dad and he also bit his mom, just not as severely. Both bites were due due tofood/treat possessiveness/Resource Guarding behaviors. We have had him here for a year and he is making great improvements. We can move him off his food with a vocal very easily now, but it took respect,trust and correction to get there. He is also a lot easier to work all together. When he first came in, if he didn't want to do something he was asked, he would offer to bite to back down his handler. Personality Wise, he has dominant tendencies and likes to test his handler to see what they're made of. He is a tad nervy so he does need a very calm, collected,confident,firm but fair, experienced and patient handler that knows their stuff and can continue to build his healthy confidence through strong leadership, a lot of daily exercise and mental stimulation. Although he is a tad bit nervy, Once he respects and trusts his handler he will try almost anything for that person! Adoption Fee:$250
