About Toby

Meet Toby! Toby is such a wonderful affectionate gentle Cocker Spaniel. He was surrendered to rescue when his owner passed away. Toby was a little lost and sad as he missed everything he was used to, but he has come to be a happy guy in his foster home. Toby is 10 years old, and weighs 33 pounds. He gets along with all the animals in his foster home, even Miss Kitty. He is always near his foster mama, laying at her feet in the office, seeing what's up in the kitchen, snoozing right next to her in his dog bed, or helping out with household chores. Toby is house trained, but does need to be let out often or he may have an accident from time to time. He suffers from dry eye and is on medicated eye drops and lubricant. The vet says that some of his eye condition will clear up and then he would only need the lubricant a couple of times a day. He has cataracts and may have some vision loss, but he navigates steps even in the dark. Toby also has some hearing loss, but can hear the treat bag being opened across the house! Like all Cocker Spaniels, his ears require regular cleaning and he needs periodic brushing and grooming to keep his coat mat-free. He has not been tested with children, but he is very gentle and as long as he is treated well, he would likely be good with older children. Toby regularly seeks affection, loves to be hugged, and wags his little nub of a tail so fast! He is so excited when you return home or in the mornings or at meal time or during play, he just bounces around like a much younger pup! Toby likes to meander around in the back yard, and because he does need to go out at night sometimes, a fenced yard would be preferred, and a doggie door in his new home would be awesome! Toby is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. A dental will be scheduled soon with our vet.
