Nate is a low-key, low-maintenance 'tri-pod' who is about 3 years old, 48 lbs. and being fostered in the Miami area. He suffered a severe leg injury and had his leg amputated several months ago. He has fully healed and navigates very well. He easily can tackle a small flight of 3-4 stairs and loves to explore on short walks in the neighborhood. His biggest priority is giving and getting affection from his humans, who must be willing to take it slowly at first to gain his trust. Nate is completely housebroken and trustworthy when left alone, although he adores spending time in his crate. He's not reactive to things like thunderstorms, fireworks or vacuum cleaners. And he enjoys his bath time! He's a bit of an introvert with people he doesn't know but will warm up once he is comfortable. Because of his mellow approach to life, he isn't fond of playing with other dogs but we think he would be fine living with another low-key dog who completely respected his personal space. However, no kids - they are too unpredictable for this gentle fellow. Cats are a bit of an unknown - he seems to ignore the neighborhood cats he meets on walks and will back away if one approaches him, but to our knowledge he's never lived with an indoor cat. He's recently been enrolled in a professional training program and has aced his obedience and socialization work (and yes, report cards are available to interested adopters!) Nate will make a great companion pet who will brighten your day with his always-wagging tail, inquisitive nature and grateful attitude.
