About Charlie

**PLEASE READ CHARLIE'S BIO THOROUGHLY AS IT IS VERY SPECIFIC TO WHAT HE NEEDS AND REQUIRES*** This is our sweet boy Charlie and he is looking for a very special and specific home. Charlie is a male almost 2 year old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix that is close to 30lbs of pure love! He came to us as a puppy from a backyard breeder who used his mom over and over to breed and sell puppies, but when the owner got overwhelmed with dogs, he immediately wanted to get rid of all of them, so we took them in. These poor dogs had no socialization and were kept in a garage 24/7 with food just thrown on the floor for them and a bowl of dirty water to drink from. With all this that he has been through it's no wonder he has insecurities and anxiety. We are looking for a very specific home for this sweet boy! Our ideal home for Charlie would be for him to be adopted with his brother Milo or he can go into a home with another dog that we see he gets along. He is VERY anxious and cries (Actually pretty loudly) when you leave so he CANNOT be an only dog. Charlie is a very strong and willful boy and he is FAST, so he cannot be placed into a senior home. We are looking for dog savvy owners that can work with him and his insecurities. We are REQUIRING that he has at least a 4ft gate or wrap pen placed around the front door securely. This will help with safety of him darting out when you open the front door. Even if you have a secure screen door we will still be requiring this gate to be placed. He can easily jump a 2 1/2 ft gate/fence with no problem whatsoever. Charlie MUST have a home with a secure and safe yard. He cannot be an apartment/condo type dog. It is also a requirement that will be contractual that he has at least 3 sessions of training with our dog trainer. We want the best for Charlie and his forever family so training is something that will make this transition a lot smoother. He is not good in the car and he needs a lot more practice on the leash. If given any opportunity to get out and run....he will and fast...and he will get away, so all requirements for his safety are a must! Even though Charlie is great with kids, a busy household with a lot of going in/out to children's activities,etc would not be good because of his darting out and his anxiety when you leave. We are only looking for an adult only home that is dog savvy and will commit to working with him on a daily routine. We also will be requiring at least 3 meet/greets before we even consider a trial period in order to make sure it's a good fit. Charlie has had a rough life and it did damage to his confidence, but we know the right home is out there and we won't stop till we find it.
