About TOBY

Adoption Fee: $550
Lab / Pointer
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

TOBY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine TOBY is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He weighs around 54 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 30 September 2019. TOBY is one of the most playful, happy-go-lucky dogs I have known. He is just always wanting to play, if a dog walks past him, he will flop over on his back, reaching out to them to try to entice them to play - he plays great with dogs and pups of all ages and sizes. Toby has been living in the house for over a week now and loves to chill on the couch but will go onto one of the dog beds on the floor if told to get down. He would make a fantastic family dog as long as their are rules in place and he knows he must follow, he is a teenager and is full of love and life. Since being at the rescue Toby has been great, he is a high energy boy and so a family that is active is very important. He stil jumps when excited and really is a big goof ball. A volunteer comes with her 9 year old children and they take him out for walks and to play and the children are able to walk him on the leash nicely. He is jumpy and over-excitable when he first gets out of his kennel, but that is common with dogs living in a kennel environment and would be a lot more manageable in a family because he will be getting the attention and exercise that he needs. He is a dog that would bring a lot of fun and laughs to the right family who can give him the active, fun, loving and full of cuddles life style that he needs. All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed. Be sure to check out his page on the rescue website for lots more pictures and videos. TOBY was with a foster family for the shelter before coming to the rescue and the family stated that Toby is a goofy boy. He is clumsy, playful and an excellent cuddle buddy. He's a little shy until he gets to know you but after that you have a best bud for life. Toby is still very much puppy and he jumps when excited and play mouths when excited. He's a smart boy and learned quickly Toby loves to play tug with his favourite rope and loves to play chase out in the yard. Afte he tromps in the yard Toby likes to sprawl out to cool off. Toby loves other dgs and would do well with a playmate to help him learn. He pretty much has a permament smile on his face and can't wait to find his forever family. All dogs are fed Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor's second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars. TOBY is available for adoption for US $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of saving all of the dogs we do, the running, upkeep and maintenance of the rescue. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. All that is needed to take dogs into Canada is a copy of the adoption contract (receipt) and current rabies for pups over 3 months of age.
