Little Peewee is a 6 year old, 7 pound Chihuahua who was owner surrendered with another dog due to them not adjusting well to a new baby in the home. We tried to get Peewee and his brother adopted together, but they had zero interest as a pair. To give them a better chance at adoption we recently put them in separate foster homes to see how they would do apart...and they're doing great! Peewee is a homebody who would happily sit on your lap all day pawing at your hands to pet him. Once he knows you, his whole life will revolve around finding you in the house and sitting on your lap. If you get up for something you can bet he will follow your every move with his eyes patiently waiting for your return. He absolutely adores his person and it's been fun to watch him blossom into the sensitive loving little guy he truly is. With that being said, he will take some time to completely trust you. During this time he may nip out of fear when you try and move him from a comfortable spot, or from your lap. But as he builds trust and sees that you won't hurt him that will become a thing of the past. His foster mom is continuing to work with him on that behavior and he's gotten so much better. Peewee was surrendered because he did not want to share his lap with the new baby in his family. Because of this he should not be in a home with small children. He is very loving with older children (as long as he knows them) but if his person is in the room he won't see anyone else. He is a very devoted boy! Peewee completely ignores cats and while he does not like to play because he is too busy sitting in laps, he does not mind other dogs around him. It can take him a little time to get used to other dogs in the house but once he does he is happy to nap or enjoy treats with his fellow fur siblings. He should be fed separately because he is a very fast eater and will try to eat everyone else's food if not monitored. He is a barker and will bark to alert you to strange sounds, or if there are any new people around. Peewee is crate trained and will run off to his crate for a nap if you are busy. He will sleep in it all night too. He currently does not sleep in the big bed but he would absolutely love it if he could. He will probably mark when you first bring him home but that will lessen as he is put on a schedule and learns where he is supposed to go. He will use pee pads, walks great on a leash, and will follow you around and come when called. A home with a fenced yard would be great, especially due to his size, but it's not a requirement as long as you can regularly walk him with a harness and leash. Either way due to his size he should never be out unsupervised. Peewee has been to the vet for a wellness check and he is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. This boy would make the perfect companion for someone with a more relaxed lifestyle who is looking for a true lapdog to love. If you would like to give him a home please submit an adoption application for review!
