About Dixy

American Bulldog / Pit Bull
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

~ THIS IS A COURTESY POST ~ AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION IN NORTHEAST till end of August Dixy is an 11-year old, 55-pound gal with an American Bulldog body and a loyal Pit Bull face. She is currently on a long vacation with her foster mom in Connecticut, but she's all the way from Wonder Paws Rescue in sunny Florida. We hope someone will snatch up this totally joyful love bug before she returns south. Dixy, despite her name, really prefers being a Yankee and looks forward to experiencing her first real autumn. Dixy is always happy and thumps her tail when you look at her. She is perfectly house-trained and very low maintenance. She's content with a couple of short walks and sleeping by your side for most of the day. But she is always up for belly rubs, and absolutely LOVES her walks! She likes to do a little tap dance out of excitement before heading out the door. Her favorite toy is her rope toy - she loves playing tug-of-war and will crack you up by flinging the toy around all by herself. Dixy didn't get the best from her original people, and instead of enjoying her retirement years she ended up skinny, sad, and dirty at Miami Dade Animal Services. After lots of TLC in a foster home, Dixy is now a chunky, healthy, happy, well-behaved girl with a beautiful brindle coat and endless love to give! Dixy is sweet as sugar with people of all shapes and sizes, but she politely requests to be the only animal in the home, as she doesn't love other dogs or cats. But don't worry - she can absorb all the love you have to give She is totally fine with being touched all over and does not startle easily, but in order for her to have the peaceful retirement she deserves, we think it's best that she go to a home without small children. She is generally good on the leash and has improved a great deal while in her foster home, but still gets very excited and pulls on the leash when she sees another dog. With more training and trust building we are confident she will continue improving! We know that someone out there has a Dixy-shaped hole in their life, and she is ready to start the rest of her life with them as their most loving, loyal companion. Please share to help Dixy find her forever home in the Northeast or even Florida! If interested, email her foster mom at [email protected] or on Instagram @rrrebecca4.
