I am looking for a permanent and loving home for a female pit bull I found dehydrated and wandering the streets of San Antonio. She did not have a collar or microchip. I contacted animal services but they are unable to take her from me since I'm not a resident of the city. She was previously infested with fleas and had several minor wounds that have all been treated. She has not been spayed and according to the vet has likely been used for breeding purposes. For the adoption process, she will need all vaccines and to be spayed. These are what will determine her re-homing fee, which may vary a bit based on the actual cost. The vet estimates she is older (at least 5 years). She is housebroken and has not chewed or demonstrated any destructive behaviors when left alone. She is usually very quiet, but will bark when startled. I've taken her into the pet store and she did not react aggressively to other dogs, but this is not a guarantee. Her behavior towards children and cats is unknown. She does well on a harness with leash but once broke free of my grip to chase a deer. She also once escaped from the yard by digging under the fence. She knows how to sit and does not usually jump on people or furniture without invitation. This is an amazing dog that I would love to keep but she needs the proper environment and training. If you are interested in adopting this sweetheart, a home visit will be necessary. If you have other dogs, we can arrange a meeting at a dog park or somewhere similar prior.
