PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 4 year old female Chihuahua, about 5 pounds. Little Miss Priya! She is shy and sweet. She is quiet unless you leave her alone and she will howl to let you know you forgot her (don't worry it doesn't last long). Her tongue is often hanging out from her tiny underbite. She'll sit on her hind legs and beg you to share, only to bring it to her friend Binde (my adopted Smidget). Priya needs to learn more about life and that it's not so scary to be a dog. She needs a human that will love on her but also not baby or carry her around all the time. She needs to learn to dog and her past life didn't seem to teach her that skill. Crate training has helped support her in knowing she's ok to be in the same room and not be held. She will need to have another confident doggie companion who will help her build confidence and show her that strangers and moving cars aren't so scary while on a walk or out in public. She is great in the car and will look to you for reassurance. She is fine with cats, other dogs, and older children (foster brother is very dog savvy 7 year old and she comes with us to daycare and is okay with all the kids fully supervised). Priya is shy but once she warms up she will be right next to you at your feet or in your lap. She can have a bit of a sensitive tummy so a consistent diet of a food with no chicken is ideal. Watch out though, she is mischievous and will jump on the table, the counter, and sniff for stuff to get into, if she can. She's a tiny girl but the sweetest attitude that needs a home to build her confidence in this big world! Adoption contract and fee applies. Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
