About Charlie and Harper

Need help! Any organization/advice/leads to adoption will help greatly! My husband and I rescued this bonded pair found roaming the street. We later found the owner purposely kicked them to the curb. They cannot be separated! Both Charlie(atop Harper) and Harper(belly up) have come a long way. They get along with our American Staffordshire inside the house. Both absolutely love people and are very social with kids. Charlie has absolutely no aggression nor anxiety towards energetic people. With other dogs, however, it is a different story. The moment a dog becomes playful(specifically in an outdoor setting), Charlie's tail is tucked and he becomes extremely anxious and a 'chase' instinct kicks in. As he came to us with a prior bite wound to the head, we suspect his past has something to do with it. Both do not do well around other dominate(or bigger) dogs. Inside they are calm, outside they are curious. Left alone, they tend to chew or get into things potentially harmful(specifically Harper). However, we are working on crate training them and they have improved significantly. We are currently in a long stay hotel. We have nowhere near the space they need nor the proper housing by any means. We aren't going to turn to a shelter as we don't want them in danger of euthanasia or being locked in a cage just wanting to be loved. They are both great dogs. If we had the suitable environment, we would keep them no doubt. Both are trainable and have responded well to training thus far. They deserve the proper time and attention and love.
