About Jazz

Adoption Fee: $400+
Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Jazz is currently in So California Jazz is a young, spunky, vivacious little female. She is happy all the time, enjoys playing with other dogs (with supervision), splashing in the kiddie pools (loves the water!), playing fetch (obsessed) and running. She would be perfect for the most active home. She loves hunting lizards, trotting on the treadmill, going for her daily walks and is really an affectionate pup. Jazz can be a little rough and can get too excited at times but still wants to please her person(s). She would benefit from an obedience class with her new owners so she can learn some rules and self-control in her new home. She is not a fence jumper but would need a 6ft tall fence to ensure her safety. She CAN be a digger but only if asked 'where is it?!'. She would do well in agility, sport jumping, frisbee, running next to a bike, pulling on a skateboard or any other sport for dogs. She can jump higher than any dog I have seen when playing with water or a tennis ball. She is a people pleaser. Needs a lot of exercise. She is high energy, spayed, current on vaccines, can be picky with females, excellent w/males, not sure about cats, small kids would need supervision at all times in case she knocks them over, older kids are great, elderly NO, she is petite in size, red and white in color and just as sweet as they come. She does excellent around our Chi-mix and knows to leave alone. We don't allow her to play with him because she doesn't know how to be gentle and may cause an injury. Jazz originally came to us aggressive with other dogs. She is awesome around other dogs now but can be picky with females so proper intro's should be provided with any dog in the home (one on one) and she should be crated to continue her training in her new environment. Jazz can be challenging due to her excited behavior but when properly exercised daily she is great. Jazz would also be a great candidate for the hunter enthusiast. With a little training this little gal, maybe 35 lbs can do almost anything. She needs a person or family that has the time to spend with her because for someone who works all day she would most likely get into trouble out of frustration. I estimate her age to be about a year, year and a half? She is not a fence jumper, not a huge barker (I've heard her bark twice), will get into the trash in or outside the home, is overly passionate about eating but has a ritual during feeding time, which is sit and give eye contact, wait until she is calm to feed her and she eats from a slow-feeder. She is not food aggressive but if she isn't provided structure, rules and discipline it isn't impossible to create so be smart about it. Jazz needs an athletic home who will provide everything she needs to become balanced in her new environment. She will be challenging at first because that is what dogs like her do to newbies. She eats basic kibble but will eat anything that is food. Jazz knows how to sit, has great recall, is a people lover, retrieves excellent (ball driven), prey drive is high, she is a natural hunter and it should be respected, needs afully fenced front and backyard (no 4 ft fences), has no known health issues, loves toys and playing with the boys! Jazz is a tomboy for a female, she is not your delicate little flower, she loves to tumble and rumble and have fun. She can be a jumper (on people) so that should be addressed immediately when adopted as well as all other basic rules and boundaries. She is submissive to humans but was told when she first arrived with us that she had previously bit someone. I would be aware of it but not make it out to be of shock value. She needs strong leadership and not anyone who will allow her to rule the roost. She has an obsession with jumping on chairs and tables because she is simply a young, vibrant and full of life girl. With a small obedience course with her new family that would disappear. She is not suitable for apartment living due to her high energy.
