About Roland (west)

Hi, my name is ROLAND ID#A4435107. I am a neutered male, blue and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 4 years old, and I have been at the shelter since June 25, 2020. Roland is a very sweet dog around people. However, is going on the euthanasia list because he cannot tolerate other dogs. Roland will require additional training to become socially tolerant of other dogs. Here are a few notes by staff about Roland's behaviour: 6/25/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT K9 allowed vaccines with light restraint and struggle. K9 was affiliative with staff and allowed petting. Roland took treats from staff. K9 walked to kennel. 6/26/2020 EVALUATION Pulled hard on the leash; aroused in the catch pen. Rushed into the yard. Stiff and dominant while greeting; became worse when interacting with a larger male in the yard. 6/27/2020 EVALUATION affiliative with handler; strong puller on leash; energetic; became barrier reactive in catch pen- barking, growling, lunging; brought dog in yard on leash; dog explored, sniffed, did not seek interaction with other dog initially; tensed and started to lunge in close proximity to other dog, appeared quick to escalate into conflict, but was responsive to handler and exited away from other dog on leash multiple times although did attempt to reapproach. Please consider saving this sweet guy and give him the training he needs. He will reward you with many years of companionship and unconditional love.
