About Sedona (west)

Hi, my name is SEDONA ID#A4429686. I am a spayed female, black and white American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 5 years old, and I have been at the shelter since June 15, 2020. Sedona is at immediate risk of euthanasia for not getting along with other dogs. She is quite selective about her doggy friends. Here is a brief history of Sedona since arriving at the shelter: 6/15/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Barking, growling and pulling on leash while trying to approach another dog in the lobby. Solicited attention. Allowed vaccines with light restraint and no struggle. Walked on leash to kennel. 6/16/2020 EVALUATION Pulls on leash; pilo-erection when looking at other dogs and remained focused on dogs near catch pen. Whining in catch pen, entered yard stiff with pilo-erection. Canine greeted in forward approach, canine initially was conflict driven but when neutral dogs did not react canine settled but when dog moved quickly near by canine attempted to escalate. Placed in side yard. 6/18/2020 EVALUATION Pulled hard on the leash; began reacting to other dogs while handler was collaring. Aroused in the catch pen; charged at a dog that ran past the fence. Rushed into the yard; stiff and dominant while greeting. Highly conflict driven; quick to escalate. 6/21/2020 ENRICHMENT Canine was easy to pull from kennel, walked well on leash to yard. Canine ran around yard, explored. Solicited attention from handler off and on. Affiliative, leaned in for petting. Toward end of interaction canine spent most of the time with handler. At one point a canine in adjacent yard was walked out and past yard, Sedona was reactive but handler was able to leash her and walk away and she did not continue reacting. Easy to return to kennel. Please consider saving this friendly girl from being put down.
