Hi, my name is ELEVEN - ID#A4427125. I am a female, white American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Jun 10, 2020. Here are recent notes by staff about Eleven: 6/10/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Dog is very timid. Tail tucked tightly to body. Snared for safe handling during vaccinations and when taking to kennel. 6/11/2020 EVALUATION Stoic in the kennel but easy to leash and remove. Nervous on the walk; timid while collaring. Nervous entrance and greeting. Nervous when approached by the yard lead. Explored the yard; remained timid but tolerant. 6/15/2020 OBSERVATION Canine was alarm barking at kennel door, handler approached and canine stopped barking and went to back of kennel. Handler closed guillotine. Canine was head ducking leash and backing away. Once leashed canine walked out of kennel, pulled on leash to the yard. In the yard canine explored and was non affiliative with handler. Came close to handler for brief periods of time, would not take treats. Canine was avoidant of being leashed, got canine into catch pen and leashed canine there. Canine crouched down, avoidant of leash, air snapped at leash when handler went to put it on. Handler was able to get collar on and take canine back to kennel. In kennel handler used a second leash clip leash to remove slip lead. 6/16/2020 OBSERVATION Stiff, direct stare in kennel; barked, huffed, backed away when handler presented leash; stiffened, growled, snapped at leash during attempts to lasso; stiff, piloerection during walk to yard; explored briefly, then stood by gate; avoidant when approached; removed leash with second leash on return 6/17/2020 OBSERVATION Alarm barking as handler approached; softened with high value treats. Walked into leash with kennel door open, walked to yard with pilo-erection. While in yard canine came forward for high value treats, explored yard. Indifferent with handler, walked to new kennel without leash. Went to front of kennel and canine was softer, sitting at front of kennel. Took treats gently from hand 6/17/2020 OBSERVATION Barking in kennel - would not exit when handler opened door and stepped out of sight; locked in back - exited kennel and ran to yard; explored yard on opposite side of handler; would not take treats; avoidant when approached; ran back to kennel 6/18/2020 OBSERVATION Would not exit kennel until she was locked into back; darted into yard; explored; treat/retreat - slowly began to get closer to handler and eventually took treats next to shoe; remained timid and avoidant; easy return.
