About Sunshine

Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Hi, there! My name is Sunshine and I'm a small lab mix and about 40 lbs. I am a super sweet girl once I get to know you. I am very shy but I live to please you. Before Safe Haven brought me to Illinois, I did not have very good experiences with humans. My foster family was very patient and day by day I've learned to trust them. My foster home has these weird two legged animals (3, 2, and 9 months) that I was not too sure about. Now I can sleep through them playing. But all their excitement sometimes freaks me out. I'd prefer if my forever home had kids 10+ When they nap, I use that time to check out their toys and search for food they may have dropped. The other two dogs in the house have quickly learned I like order and to follow the rules, clearly I'm much smarter than them! If they do something my foster mom doesn't like, I correct them. That makes me a very good girl and also the leader. I need to be adopted into a home with another dog. They give me so much confidence and it's where I really shine! Hopefully they will understand I like to be in charge. :) Before coming to Illinois, I was most likely injured because my tail doesn't flip up but I still let you know I'm happy by wagging it like crazy! I tend to get startled easily and am very protective of my back side. I've done extremely well in my foster home and have really learned humans are amazing. My forever home will hopefully be a bit quieter, maybe with another dog who can continue to teach me good doggie manners and instill the confidence I need to be happy. A yard would be great because I love chasing the squirrels! I promise to love you and binge any TV show you want, just please no more shows about those tigers! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
