About Vasia

Adoption Fee: $400
German Shepherd mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Vasia Vasya is a 5 year-old blind girl, who used to live at home with her Dad. Her Dad had a major drinking problem, and people witnessed him beating Vasya routinely, often kicking her hard in the head. One day, after years of sustaining head trauma, Vasya could no longer see. Noticing that she was disoriented, her Dad picked her up, brought her to a distant location in town (so that she would not find her way back), and just left her there. Before dying in the streets or being hit by a car, Vasya was caught by a dog catcher, who brought her to the municipal kill shelter. A blind five year-old dog was certainly headed for euthanasia. For the first time in her life, Vasya got lucky. One of our local volunteers took pity, and rescued her. Our group saw her picture and decided to sponsor a vet consult. The vet concluded that Vasya was suffering from severe pain and that her condition would continue to deteriorate. She had to undergo surgery to remove both eyes. Miraculously, following the surgery, Vasya came to life. Maybe without pain, and finally safe, she could finally feel happy and alert. She is extremely affectionate, docile, and sweet. She is bit plump, but small, weighing only 12 kilos. She is spayed. Other than her blindness (and she learned to get around quite well now), she is healthy and up to date on all vaccines. We are looking for a loving family for this special girl. Vasia can be transported to US in August.
