SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA Hi, my name is BLUE VENUS ID#A4209592. I am a spayed female, blue and white American Pit Bull Terrier. The shelter staff think I am about 3 years old, and I have been at the shelter since February 1, 2019 (over a year). Sadly, I am set to be euthanized tomorrow. I am struggling in my kennel at the shelter, and it is not humane to keep me here. I have been in the shelter twice and was found both times as a stray....This time I need a stable loving home....This is my last chance.... Will you save my life? I hope someone can offer me a loving home this go round. I have not had any stability in my life. As far as getting along with other dogs, I did really good the first time I was in the shelter, and did Ok the second time also. I am good with kids. too. Because I was turned in twice, the shelter is requiring a Rescue to pull me. Here are the latest notes about Blue Venus: 6/4/2020 EVALUATION High arousal in the kennel. Reluctantly sat when queued. Lunged at handler hand when unlocking the kennel. Lunged up at leash when presented. Grabbed hold of leash when placed inside the kennel. 6/6/2020 OBSERVATION Canine was barking when handler approached kennel but began wagging tail and has a loose body when handler opened kennel door. Canine teeth chattered and head ducked leash. Canine was conflicted; wanted to come out but hesitant to be leashed. Once leashed canine walked out of kennel readily. Pulled on leash on the way to the yard. Canine became slightly aroused and explored yard. Canine came to handler when handler called, playful, leaned in to petting. Became highly aroused and barrier reactive when another canine walked by into the adjacent yard. Handler then walked canine out of yard. Pulled on leash on the way back to kennel, readily went back into kennel. 6/7/2020 EVALUATION Loose body and wagging tail when handler approached to leash. Attempted to push past handler but allowed placement of quick harness. Pulled slightly to yard. Very excited during collar placement. Entered yard neutral and tolerated greetings. Canine engaged in some play but appeared undersocialized in play. Slightly barrier reactive with incoming dogs but settled and moved away on her own. Affiliative with lead and handler. Easily placed back in kennel. 6/13/2020 ENRICHMENT Canine was easy to pull from kennel, pulled hard on leash on the way to yard. Somewhat reactive to dogs in kennels. In yard canine explored and played in pool. Solicited attentionf rom handler, leans in for petting, soft body.
