About Montana

Montana says, 'Hey' all the way from the Bronx in NYC so please share his story so he can find a home! Affectionately known as Monti, this sweet and loyal male blue-nose pittie is about 8 years old and approx 95lbs. A former yard dog who has become quite fond of being a couch potato, he now has dreams of a quiet country lifestyle to enjoy his golden years. Montana is a low-maintenance 'mush pie' who likes to chill and binge Netflix. He enjoys car rides, short leisurely strolls, and plenty of butt rubs. Easy to please, he's the type of guy who likes lounging so much that he needs encouragement to get moving. Remind you of anyone? He likes attention and being near his people, so someone who is home often is ideal. As a senior with some arthritis, he'd love his very own super cozy spot for those all-important naps sessions. Now that he knows what pillows and blankies are, there's no turning back. For the past few months, Montana has been living in an apartment in NY/Bronx with a caring neighbor lady after his people moved away. Though much-loved by his current owner, a permanent disability and financial constraints prevent her from keeping Montana long-term. The ASPCA helped out with veterinary care and this burly fella' is up-to-date on shots, though somewhat hard-of-hearing. He was overweight, but steadily getting in shape and feeling peppier. Losing a few pounds will further improve his stiff joints, but a home without stairs is preferred. (Gentle massages welcome, too!) This New Yorker will make a great companion. He's got a lot of love for a kind and quiet person who shares his interests. Previous owners failed to socialize him, so an experienced owner is needed to manage his reactivity to other dogs. Also note that he can be possessive of food and should be left to eat in peace.
