Meet Kip! He is a very sweet, laid back Corgi/Lab mix (best guess). He is approximately 8 years old and weighs about 38 pounds. Kip was living on the streets in a neighborhood until a good Samaritan took him in and called us. The person who picked him up was pretty sure he was dumped and we were unable to locate an owner, so he's now looking for a new home! Kip is a friendly, lovable guy. He wants to be by you on the couch, but due to his short legs and age, he can't jump up to get his cuddles, so he will need a little assistance! Kip is happy just hanging out in the house on his big giant dog bed. He doesn't care about playing outside or playing with the other dogs. He'd rather just hang out in the air conditioning and be lazy (maybe because he spent so much time outside!) but he does like to go for walks. He gets excited when you get the leash and he will go sit by the door waiting for you to take him out. Kip really likes to be with his person and he doesn't like to be confined away from his family if he knows they are home. If he's outside in the back and hears his foster mom in the front, he will howl and scratch the gate. Kip gets along with the other dogs in his foster home. He can get a little grumpy if there are too many in his face, but he tolerates them all! He would be just as happy to be an only dog or to have a fursibling or two that are pretty low key like him. Kip doesn't pay any attention to the cat in his foster home. He has not been around children but with his disposition we think he would be fine around older kids. He goes outside to potty but does have a habit of marking. This is mostly due to coming into a new home with lots of new dog smells. Kip is up to date on shots and microchipped with a lifetime registration. He has a neuter and dental scheduled that are covered by the rescue. Kip is heartworm positive and has been started on treatment. The treatment involves 30 days of Doxycycline, given twice a day, followed by 12 months of Ivermectin. He will be retested at that time and, if still positive, we will provide another 6 months of Ivermectin and retest at the end of the 6 months. This will continue until the dog tests negative. The rescue supplies all the medicine and pays for the tests. Kip is just an all around sweet guy who will make a great addition to any family! Please submit an adoption application if you want to meet this sweet boy!
