About Bruce

Bruce is about 3.5 years old. I adopted him sight unseen from a kill shelter in NM 1 year ago. He was underweight, had worms & fleas, and had deep cuts on his face. He was very anxious. He didn't know how to walk on a leash, climb stairs, or get into a vehicle. He has made so much progress! He is loved very much. I have a 16 yr old cat he loves. He cuddles with him but he also likes to chase him. He runs at him then stops and walks away. It's a game to him. He loves to play fetch and tug-of-war. He is very energetic and athletic. He can climb a privacy fence up to 10 ft and he can jump a chain link fence. He can be very aggressive/reactive on a leash. He has jumped on and cornered dogs at the dog park and day camp. He will jump at some people while on the leash. There are lots of dogs Bruce has not been aggressive towards and he loves to play with most other dogs. I had a 20 lb pug mix he got along with fabulously. I no longer have a yard for him. I cannot walk or run with him because he is so reactive. I end up trying to restrain him constantly and he is getting stronger than me. I'm worried he is not happy here and cannot get exercise. I dont have the skills to train him and I cannot afford a trainer. I've tried the clicker/treat training but its been ineffective. I would love for him to have a home where he can run and be active. The neighborhood kids love him. He has never actually bit a person or animal. He is a very sweet dog most of the time. He needs a person who knows how to address these behaviors and he needs room to run. I only want what is best for him.
