Hi, my name is VINCENT - ID#A4416474. I am a neutered male, white and red American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old, and I have been at the shelter since May 08, 2020. Vincent was pretty beat up when he came to the shelter. He was very shy and submissive, but has slowly come out of his shell. Vincent is very wiggly and happy in his kennel and he definitely projects that he wants to interact with you. He is a little unsure at first, but once he is leashed, he comes out and walks along with you very happily. He is a little unsure of thresholds but with a little coaxing he goes. He is very enamored with people and seeks out a lot of affection, and even knows 'sit'. Here are some notes from volunteers who recently spent time with Vincent: 5/17/2020 OBSERVATION Loose body/tail wagging when handler approached, came to kennel gate willingly; wary during leash placement but tolerated; exited kennel with verbal coaxing, walked very slowly to yard, needing coaxing entire way; in yard, very affiliative with handler; leaned into petting, sought attention - calm and gentle interactions; walked back to kennel, needing less coaxing than during pull; easy leash removal; continued to be affiliative through kennel gate. 5/20/2020 ENRICHMENT Came forward on approach; ran to back at sight of leash; came forward and allowed placement with coaxing; stop/go to yard, responded well to coaxing; explored yard; somewhat timid but affiliative with handler; allowed petting all over; jumped onto bench next to handler; stop/go on return. 5/21/2020 ENRICHMENT Came forward on approach; hesitant but allowed placement with coaxing; walked to yard using route that required passing less reactive dogs compared to yesterday - dog needed little coaxing and was only somewhat stop/go; explored yard; somewhat timid but affiliative/affectionate with handler; allowed petting all over; jumped onto bench next to handler; took treats gently.
