Hi, my name is JONES - ID#A4341240. I am a neutered male, brindle and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 6 months old, and I have been at the shelter since November 12, 2019. 11/12/2019 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Jones was friendly- tail wagging, affectionate. Staff had to use squeeze gate for vaccines due to trying to bite with light restraint. 4/25/2020 EVALUATION Hard stare when handler approached kennel; flinched initially with touch; greeted female dog in yard and attempted to solicit play/interaction, but other dog became defensive/gave correction, this dog pursued, but did not escalate; head high, assertive posture in yard; explored yard. 5/7/2020 ENRICHMENT easy kennel pull; some pulling on leash; explored yard; got in pool/water; treat motivated, demonstrated 'sit' for treats, slightly grabby with treats; returned to kennel without issue. 5/23/2020 ENRICHMENT Canine was friendly, came to the front of the kennel when handler approached. Pulled on the leash on the way to the yard. Once in the yard canine was calm and relaxed, affiliative with handler and also explored yard. Easy to leash and return to kennel. Jones has had some skin issues, which may be allergies, and will need to be addressed by a family vet. Please consider giving this sweet guy a home. He is at risk for euthanasia considering the length of time at the shelter.
