About Franklin (east)

Hi, my name is FRANKLIN ID#A4379127. I am a neutered male, brown and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter staff think I am about one year old, and I have been at the shelter since March 4, 2020. FRANKLIN IS SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA WITHIN THE NEXT TWO DAYS. Here are notes about Franklin: 3/4/2020 - INTAKE ASSESSMENT Extremely friendly on intake, allowed all vaccines with light restraint. 3/6/2020 - EVALUATION Pulled on leash; at fence, barked at polite female dog, piloerection; continued pulling on leash, barking at other dog when exiting yard; in parking lot, barked at dog passing by on leash; settled in wing, waited for handler to open gate to kennel; bring out again. 3/9/2020 - EVALUATION Barking at sight of other dogs, piloerection; on leash very tense, head high, approached to inspect friendly male dog, growled when other dog moved, started to escalate, lunged/barked/growled; separated to other yard, dog rushed to fence, repeatedly barked/lunged at fence head-flipped when handler approached to grab leash; growled in wing; on return to kennel, jumped up against gate and barked. Franklin has not interacted safely with other dogs in the shelter setting; he is not available for adoption to the general public; recommend new hope/rescue placement for further assessment outside of shelter setting; Franklin can be adopted to management approved adopter who can provide an only dog home and is willing to seek non-punishment based training/behavior assistance to address dog-dog reactivity.
