Cole had a difficult start in life, having come from the south as a very nervous pup. His first owners worked with him and reduced his anxiety, but his resource guarding was strong and resulted in biting. To remedy these issues, Cole is now attending a full-time board and training program where he is doing really well and following commands like a pro! Aside from his resource guarding and some anxiety, Cole is actually a great all-around dog. He enjoys playing and running free in a fenced yard. He is very sweet, super energetic, loves night time cuddles, and loves being lazy in the mornings. He can be left alone un-crated as he is not destructive. He's really quite fantastic. Do you like to work out? Coles loves exercise and is trained to run on a treadmill. Cole wants to stay in shape, so he would love a committed runner or hiker, who never lets rain or snow affect a daily workout. However active you must be an experienced dog handler for Cole. Cole is getting valuable training experience but will require a confident, consistent handler who will follow through with his newly acquired skills. We want Cole to have someone experienced in resource guarding and who won't be lax with him. He has worked hard and deserves a dedicated someone to keep him on the right track. Cole's trainer will assist in the re-homing process and ARK will provide post-adoption counseling. Cole's checklist: - Dedicated hero who loves to run - Experienced person who will provide structure - Adult-only home, no kids, no dogs, cats unknown but he has a low prey drive - Single family home with fence - Soft bed and blankets (750 count sheets preferred) Although we are looking for a dogless home for Cole, he does enjoy the company of other dogs when introduced properly Cole is an awesome dog, but not one you can just 'water and be gone.'
