Sweetie came into rescue last summer as a medical case. She was a physical wreck. Balding & underweight (fixed with thyroid meds), eyes infected (on eye drops), teeth a mess (dental done). It took awhile to get her straightened out and now she is a sweet and adorable pooch who's ready for her forever home. We think she'd be a great fit for adults. We have not seen any aggression while she's been in foster care but she is a little hand shy if you put your hand over the top of her head, so living with children full time is probably not a fun idea for her. Adults who understand to pet her on the side of her body are her preference. She loves to sleep in the bed with you. She's fairly low maintenance as far as exercise goes yet she clearly loves the occasional romp/play. She loves toys and will play with and try to shred them. She gets very happy and a bit bouncy when we come home. She's a bit of a velcro dog and wants to be in the same room as her foster mom. If I try to shut her away in a separate room, she'll scratch at the door. But if I let her be in the same room with me, she'll happily settle down somewhere to either take a nap or play with a toy. She is nice company without requiring you to go jogging with her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Housebroken? Not fully but she does show interest in going to the door and if we take her outside, she will potty within a few minutes. Regular access to the yard or multiple short walks per day should complete the housebreaking process. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Crate trained? Haven't tried it. No need really since she's not destructive. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yard requirement: A small fenced yard would suffice. She does like to wander around the yard so we are trying to find her a home that has a fenced yard. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Exercise needs: Moderate. A good walk daily. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Medical: thyroid pill twice daily, eye drops twice daily, ongoing for life. She takes them like a champ. The reason she was bald on intake was due to low thyroid. Her hair has grown back in now. Eyes are in great shape now too thanks to the drops. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Suitable for condo/apartment living? No, because she likes to wander around her yard. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Preferred adoption match: We'd like to match Sweetie up with someone who does not work full time or perhaps partners who work different shifts. She loves to hang with her human. She's a very nice, gentle dog. She does have eye drops and thyroid meds that need to be administered daily for the rest of her life, but these are not expensive and she takes them quite well, so you would need to be someone who's willing and able to physically and financially manage that in addition to loving her for the rest of her life. We have a supply on hand to get you started. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Age: vet estimated at 9 years. Weight 18 lb. Adoption fee is reduced since she's a senior. $200+tax, total $212. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Adoption Application: copy and paste this link into your browser to open the app: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- http://form.jotform.us/form/41555257797165. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For more photos of Sweetie, please visit our website by copying and pasting this link into your browser: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- https://happydogrescue.wixsite.com/website/available-dogs
