Newman is an adorable soft coat wheaten terrier. He's three years old and was initially saved from the Thailand meat trade. His owner is having health issues and can no longer take care of him. He knows basic commands and he's 48 pounds. His past has been unstable as he literally had to survive small containers and fighting for food, neglect and abuse, long enough to be rescued. Newman is very affectionate, however, it takes some time to trust his handler and other dogs, He needs a slow, nonconfrontational introduction and positive interactions with both people and other pets in the home. He will require an experienced, confident owner who is able to set healthy boundaries while using positive methods of redirecting his unwanted (humping for attention) behavior as well as not unknowingly reinforcing it. His $250 adoption fee will be donated back to an approved trainer as well as the rescue matching ongoing training 50% in an effort to partner in his success. Newman is not an aggressive dog, however, he is an insecure dog who needs our help. Newman has been slowly introduced with non-threatening dogs and did fine, however, he would be happier in a family with no or very calm, submissive dogs. Please respond ONLY if you understand and are 100% on board with training. Complete an application to meet him at www.2darescue.org
