Jett was found in a very rural part of North Carolina, and eventually picked up on the side of the road as a stray. He is a super sweet, black and white mutt. We believe him to be mixed with pit, lab, and/or boxer. He weighs 51 lbs. and is around 1-2 years old. We don't know much about his story, but he has a decent size burn scar on his back and we know he is skittish, with a likely history of under-socialization and/or abuse. Here are a few observations about Jett. He is skittish. He has shown tremendous improvement (!) but he needs someone who will be gentle and have patience as he learns it is okay to trust humans. Loud noises and fast movements scare him, so he really needs time to know he can trust you. Jett is a flight risk. If you have a backyard, you must have a 6 foot fence with no gaps or holes (otherwise, if he gets scared, he will run and try to escape). He needs to be strapped into a harness for any walks outside of fenced areas. Jett does exceptional around the presence of another dog. He would be a great companion dog for both humans and dogs alike! He has done great around other dogs, cats, and babies. He is mostly house trained, but not 100%. Accidents are few and far between and are generally confined to his crate. He is crate-trained and knows a few commands as well. He doesn't bark much but will occasionally let out a short howl. It's adorable. He is not aggressive at all! He will snuggle with you on the couch or in bed, and he is really gentle and loving. He loves to be outside but is just as content chewing on a bone inside on the floor. He is really easy going in the home, just nervous to meet new people.
