Meet pretty Hildie! She is a 5 year old Chihuahua Beagle mix who weighs about 10 pounds. Hildie came to us from a shelter where she had been taken after being found as a pregnant stray. Shelters aren't good places to give birth so we got her out of there as soon as her stray hold was up. Hildie had 5 cute puppies (3 have been adopted, 2 still need homes) and she's ready for her own home now too! Hildie is very loving and friendly. She loves to get as much attention as she can from her person. She follows her foster family around the house all day and lies down with them wherever they are. She begs for treats and is just the sweetest little dog! Hildie is good with kids, although little ones are a little too active for her. She is very fond of her foster mom's 8 year old daughter, who takes her on walks and reads to her at night. Hildie is housebroken and does well on a leash. Overall she is a low key dog. She does have some anxiety when she is left alone and we believe she is used to having at least a dog with her at all times. If she is left alone, a secure gated area might be best for her until she understands that when you leave you are coming back. She is great with other dogs and a home where she would have a dog buddy would be great for her, especially if her new family works. Hildie has had a dental, is up to date on shots, spayed, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. She is heartworm positive. Heartworms are caused by the bite of an infected mosquito. If a dog is not on heartworm prevention they are at risk and unfortunately we see this a lot. Since our dogs are small breed dogs we have chosen to do the 'Slow kill' treatment. We provide this treatment (a cycle of Doxycycline followed by Ivermectin) and pay for testing until the heartworms are all gone and she tests negative. Hildie will be a great addition to a family! If you are interested in giving her a furever home please submit an adoption application!
