The low adoption fee is to encourage you to step up & take action! Time is of the essence. If you are interested, act now! Below is more info, please read EVERYTHING. Serious inquires only! We are only looking for a permanent home for this pet. We appreciate people wanting to help, but please do not apply with the intention of re-homing. NOTES FROM SAFE HAVEN ABOUT THIS DOG: Most pets on the euthanasia list are a project pet, and will need further training and/or socializing. Specific details outlined below. Safe Haven has not worked with this pet. Everything known about the pet is in this post. Keep in mind that long haired dogs need to be brushed at least twice a week. But wait until he gets used to you first... ***** NOTES FROM THE SHELTER ABOUT THIS DOG: Clint 2Y Male Aust Shepherd/Mix 16.50 lbs MEDICAL: From hoard-like conditions. Mild dental tartar, no dental needed. BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Clint has remained very shut down, and will not interact with handlers. Clint will take high value treats, when dropped on the ground near him. Clint is also able to be handled with a small blanket, for moving and cleaning purposes. He would do much better in a quieter and calmer environment. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Clint came to the shelter as part of a large-scale hoarding intake. Behavior notes: (Please note that the shelter environment is scary & this pet may act different once out of the shelter) 07/18/19 13:24 Evega: Same note for all three dogs, behavior was identical, with very slight difference with this dog in particular. Dogs were very shut down as handler approached kennel. All dogs laying down, two other dogs on the bed, this dog laying on the side of the bed. All three dogs had no reaction to handler opening kennel door. All three dogs would not take treats from handlers hand, but once treats were dropped on the ground, all three readily ate high value food items. AC staff needed to clean kennel, so handler used a medium size towel to pick dogs up and place them on the outside of kennel for cleaning. All dogs were shut down to the point of having no reaction beyond stiffening up when picked up. Dogs are not adoption candidates at this point, plan to place dogs on check rescue and continue to work with them. . ***** Adoption fee (from Safe Haven) is only $45 & includes: - Initial Vet check (if pet will allow) - Spay/Neuter surgery - Up to date on Vaccinations - Microchip - Voucher for a future Free office visit to the Vet - 50% off any Optimum Wellness Plan - 30 days of free pet insurance (in case something comes up after adoption) - Available Paperwork: Spay/Neuter records, Vaccination records, Vet records, Microchip records, Recommendation list, etc... - Continued Support: Safe Haven will be there for the lifetime of your adopted pet. If you ever have questions or concerns, We will always be there to help. Our goal is for you & your pet to live happily ever after! HOW SAFE HAVENS E-LIST ADOPTION PROGRAM WORKS: - This pet has NOT been saved & is in danger of being euthanized at the shelter. - The shelter will not allow me to have potential adopters come down & view the pets. This pet is in an area only accessible to rescue groups. - You must be 100% SURE you want to adopt this pet & commit to adopting without meeting them first (I know, scary, but keep reading it gets better...). - Fill out an application & be screened before the deadline so I can let the shelter know we have a home for this pet. For a dog: http://www.adoptapet.com/Safe-Haven/adoption-application/ - Once you get an approval e-mail, rest easy & follow the instructions. - I will then pull the pet off the list, if your pet is marked as 'spayed' or 'neutered' in the shelter notes, plan to get your new family member either that day or the next day. Pick-up times are 9:30-2:30 every day of the week - If your pet is marked as 'male' or 'female' in the shelter notes, then that means that they need to be fixed. So plan to get your new family member within 1-5 days. I will keep you updated & notify you when they are out of surgery, etc... Please plan to pick up your pet within 24 hrs of being notified that your pet is ready. - After adoption, I will be available for help with training if you need it. - You can turn the pet in to Safe Haven if for some reason it is not working out. All I ask is that you give it a good 30 days before making that decision. The pets we network are scared, and need time to settle in. (so see, it is not as scary as it sounds) This is the same way we do things with people who have fostered for us, only this is for people who are looking to adopt) * Please note: Most pets that come from the big shelters get upper respiratory infections there
