About Darwin-PENDING!

Darwin could be that dream come true guy for active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. We feel that Darwin would also do well with a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Darwin's family because as a smaller guy we want to make certain that he's always handled gently and respectfully. Darwin, at 11 lbs (the perfect portable size to go anywhere a great little dog is welcome) and 3 years old is such a great age..old enough to be beyond babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. Darwin loves playing and once comfortable.. is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to share. His story is all too common - a guardian who can no longer care for a dog and hasn't made any arrangements for his care..and off the dog goes to a high-kill shelter. However, luck was with Darwin...he was saved from the shelter due to his gorgeous looks (this photos don't do his beauty justice), engaging manner and very sweet and loving personality. Darwin may initially be a bit uncertain or frightened from his time spent being rehomed and on transport...but give him just a second (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Darwin has gently jumped into your lap to give and receive love. The Texas rescuers recognized that Darwin is a special and wonderful dog. They knew that there is a family out there that will fall in love with this sweet and awesome guy. As a Pomeranian/Tibetan Spaniel mix, we expect that Darwin will have a stunning lightly shedding coat. Once Darwin is given the gift of great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is an excellent choice), his coat will become the cottony-soft hair that speaks of good health. With a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Darwin's coat will return to the stunning beauty that is natural to his breed mix. Darwin will do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a neighborhood walk, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Darwin's great temperament. Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Darwin to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Darwin will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to always adopting out healthy dogs. We've requested that Darwin be neutered/microchipped prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Darwin's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Darwin is currently in a foster home in the Denver area.
