About Eclectus Parrot

Meet Maxx, he is a 2 1/2 year old male Eclectus parrot. Maxx is a good bird, loves to cudlle, likes to play on top of his cage and chase our dog Paco every now and then. He has a great vocablary and speaks English, Spanish and Sponge Bob. He is learning new things all the time, things we don't even recognize... Unfortunately Maxx is having some behavior issues and we think he needs a bit of a reset if you will. He started shredding (not plucking) his feathers about 8 months ago. We have done our homework and Maxx has one of the best Avian vets on the payroll and there is no clear cut answer. We have him on a Chamomile tea and hemp oil regiment and it appears to be helping. As well we're having a problem with him becoming obsessed with my wife, he loves her like a mother and has started to bite me if she comes by and won't let me pick him up if she is in the area and now he has started to bite her when she puts him down on his perch or cage. It's crazy, our friends pick him up and put him down when ever we have people over and he doesn't seem to mind the attention at all. We are asking an adoption fee and this is not about the money as much as finding a sincerely good home for Maxx.
