About Bazil

German Shorthaired Pointer
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Bazil is a 8 month old pure bred German Shorthaired Pointer. Bazil is a super-sweet and cuddly dog who bonds quickly and closely with people, especially his primary owner and whomever does the most training. He's a ball of energy who loves to play with other dogs and people. Bazil needs to be in a single-family house with a fenced backyard, one or two other dog-friendly dogs that are his size or larger, and owners who can let him run around and play in the morning and evenings. Bazil is friendly toward children but may get excited and play too roughly for younger kids. Bazil sleeps well on his bed next to his foster owners' bed. He sometimes needs a break in the middle of the night but will be able to do without soon. His foster owners report that he's up to six hours without a bathroom break most nights. Bazil is dog friendly, and enthusiastic when he greets other dogs. Bazil has spent time at a kennel and doggy daycare and the reports are glowing about his interaction with other dogs his size and activity level. He's also people friendly and his foster owners have been working with him on not jumping on people to greet them. He's improving, but will need more training. Bazil will eat and sleep in his crate as long as the door is open. If the door is closed, he barks and paws at the crate. Bazil's ideal owners will work with him on his separation anxiety. When left alone, Bazil will bark and whimper until he is reunited with his family. He's also an escape artist who learned how to escape his crate at his foster owner's home and open their (lever-type) door knobs. Bazil is super smart and because of that he's very easily trained and great at learning commands! If you will put in the time to work with Bazil and train him, he will be an amazing companion. Bazil is showing an early and promising aptitude for agility trials and he has good balance along walls and he likes to hop up the stepped retaining walls at his foster owners' home. He's eager to please his owners and loves his training times. He is very keen on rabbits and other small and furry animals and needs to be on a good leash, and he may have potential for lure coursing, too. Bazil has not shown an aptitude for hunting, but he is young enough to still start on training. Bazil is a dog who needs a job and needs to have an active mind. If you can give him friends, a yard, and exercise, Bazil will be a wonderful friend and companion who is calm and quiet indoors. Bazil is being fostered in Denver Colorado. His adoption fee is $450 including neuter, microchip and up to date on current vaccines.
