PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST BULLY BREED EXOERIENCE REQUIRED. Bailey is in search of a loving, caring home that will accept him for who he is. Bailey loves to sleep, eat, spend time with the people he loves and head out for the occasional walk to smell the roses or whatever else he might fancy! Bailey is in good health and has consistently been to the vet for his shots and other needs. He does need to stick to (mostly) a fairly consistent diet with his hypoallergenic food but that is about it. While he is truly a pleasure to be around, his original family had to surrender him due to his reactivity and aggression with respect to small children and visitors in the home. His original family loved him dearly but with a growing family they made the decision to re-home him. Given his reactivity Bailey may not do well in a home with young children and will need to be trained to deal with visitors to a home so he does not react with aggression. Bailey is the most unbelievable companion when in low stress situations at home with his own people. Bailey also does not start off getting along with other dogs. He has had great success with other dogs through group walks and doggie daycare 1-2x but always starts from a position of fear/aggression, before he gets accustomed to the situation/environment. Because of this, a strong pack leader who provides consistent direction and helps manage interactions with other dogs would be best. Bailey has been through a number of training classes - he understands a multitude of commands. He is a smart and demanding boy and sometimes forgets what he has learned from a behaviour perspective so consistency and continuing obedience classes would help Bailey. Bailey should not be walked by anyone who cannot redirect his attention or manage his reactivity should there be an encounter with something unexpected, a loose dog, for example, so kids or teens should not be asked to walk Bailey as part of their household responsibilities. In spite of these issues, Bailey is a very, very sweet boy who loves his humans. He does not need much exercise, just short walks. He is 100% housebroken and crate-trained too. Bailey loves all toys, but especially his Teddy which he uses as security blanket when feeling stressed in his crate. For his ideal home Bailey is looking for a quiet, calm environment without any current or future small children. Prior Frenchie experience is not required, but experience with BULLY BREED dogs is. A home with other dogs could be considered, but only if the home has extensive experience working with reactive dogs and devotes the time and energy needed for slow introductions and Bailey to transition successfully. Bailey would be happy in a house whether it's in the country, suburbs, or city. Apartments and condos likely wouldn't work due to the chances of sharing elevators, hallways, and entryways with other dogs. A fenced yard would be good for Bailey to play in and eliminate the chance of an encounter with a strange dog. Bailey would love someone who is home all day but he is also okay with a midday break. His previous owners say that Bailey is constantly stopped while on walks as people comment on how cute he is. He is a very sweet guy deep down and shows love once is reactivity and stress has calmed down. We want Bailey to make his new family as happy as he has made us, his love is infectious.
