About Willa-ADOPTION PENDING

Bearded Collie / Border Collie
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Willa will be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loving and loyal best friend. At just about 2 years old, Willa is such a great age...old enough to be past puppyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. At 42 lbs, Willa is a great medium size for outdoor fun as well as mellow times at home. She can be introduced to car rides to fun places to enable her to accompany her guardians everywhere a well-behaved dog is allowed. Through attendance at positive reinforcement/force free group training class, Willa will learn the behavioral skills to be trustworthy and appropriate out in the world. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very beautiful...end up in precarious situations. Willa was a last-minute save for us...she was scheduled for euthanasia in a dismal Texas shelter for space if kind and compassionate rescuers hadn't stepped up. Willa's path to rescue has been a long and challenging one. When a plea went out to save her life, Willa was identified as a shy and frightened male. Farfel's was happy to speak up for this stunning Bearded Collie (with perhaps just a touch of Terrier in the mix) to save his/now her life. Willa was immediately removed from the shelter and brought to a loving and compassionate foster home to be nurtured and loved until transport time to Colorado. It was at this time that Farfel's was contacted that Willa was actually a she...and pregnant. We accepted this and doubled down in our commitment to help her and her puppies on their paths to loving families in Colorado. Luck was with us when we found an excellent foster family in Denver. They were amazing in their commitment to foster Willa and her babies until it was time for each to go to their individual homes. That time is now...Willa has loved and nurtured her 10 babies and now it's her turn to find her forever family. Willa, as a young girl, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance and exposure to different situations, Willa will become a well-behaved and very bonded companion. She is just naturally an all-time snuggler, and will cuddle her way into any heart! Willa may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Willa with either active and committed retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at home or just part-time outside of the home. A like-sized canine friend would be great as well. Willa would enjoy the companionship and the periodic play and cuddle times with a furry best friend...however a present guardian who provides exercise and mental stimulation in a single- dog family would be perfect for Willa as well. For those family members who enjoy hikes, snowshoeing or just time outside in the gorgeous Colorado mountains ...Willa would love nothing more than to share the experience. A guardian who is willing to work on lessons around leash walking and commands is perfect for Willa. She is always up for time spent outside..fascinated by the activity around her. She breathes in the air...so happy to be free in a positive and nurturing environment. Then...maybe her favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed close beside her favorite people. As a Bearded Collie (with perhaps a bit of Terrier in the mix,) Willa appears to be a non-shedding pup. Any family interested in bringing Willa into their family will need to commit to coat care. She will require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a lifelong daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care) to keep Willa's hair cottony- soft, super-healthy and matt free. Willa isn't spayed at this time. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Willa's spay and microchip if one of our Colorado rescue vets is used. Willa is available for adoption. We're currently searching for a very nurturing family that has the energy and love for the herding dog breeds. They will also have the time and and commitment to attend group positive reinforcement training classes to teach Willa her skills as a companion dog. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful and very loving best friend. Adoption apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Willa, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
