Meet little Miss Jenny, a sweet, loving flat-coated retriever mix who was left without a home when her human passed away a few months ago. Now, she is more than ready to find her new home.Jenny has excellent house manners, is housebroken and has had some basic training. She has shown no signs of being destructive at all and she's not a counter surfer. She is extremely well behaved around food-she will sit before eating & before getting a treat, while offering her paw. Jenny likes to sleep on the couch or on the bed cuddled up with her humans, and is especially affectionate in the morning when you wake. She is very intuitive, with a very gentle touch, and will comfort her human with a soft paw, a hug, or just her head in your lap to let you know she's there for you if you've had a rough day.Jenny is shy and timid at first, particularly in new situations, but transitions nicely when treated with plenty of gentleness & love. Jenny will initially show a bit of anxiety when left alone in a new home, but that has dwindled over time. She greets her family at the door with her beautiful smile & a wagging tail that moves her whole body with utter joy at seeing you back. She loves to be touched, hugged, pet and smooched, and she loves a good car ride. Jenny is very athletic with great mobility and enjoys doing zoomies full speed around the yard, generally with one of her many toys in her mouth. She really loves her walks but needs an owner who will continue to work with her on her dog socialization issues. She can be leash reactive to other dogs when they begin to bark at her, as she perceives this as a threat to herself and her human, and they usually get her protective barking notice. She has proven to be very trainable and has already made great progress with her foster family who continues to work on this with her. Jenny happens to also be a great watchdog-while she is not a big barker, she will let you know if she hears or senses something amiss, settling down when she realizes that her family is safe.Jenny is looking for a moderately active, adult only home with a dog savvy family who is very patient, kind, caring and loving who will continue to work with her on her insecurities, and help her gain more trust and confidence in the world around her. She has likely not had an easy life, so her new humans will need to be understanding of the transition time it might take her to feel safe and loved. Although she did live with another dog in her past, we feel that she should be an only dog at this time, with all attention focused on her, until she feels secure enough to welcome another canine in to the home. As far as we know, Jenny has never been exposed to cats, so we do not know how she will do with them. If you think you could give this sweet, lovable girl her perfect forever home, please contact her rep at [email protected]. At approximately 4-5 years of age, the minimum donation for Jenny is $400
