About Mr Eric

Adoption Fee: 100
American Staffordshire Terrier / Rottweiler
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hello! My name is Eric and I have so much love to give. I was hoping you would take a minute to get to know me and see if we could be best friends! I am a playful 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier/Rottweiler/Samoyed mix. I have my basic commands down and I'm eager to please. My favorite activities include cuddling with my human, playing with my squeaky toys, and winning tug-of-war. Before you can understand who I am now, we first need to explore my past. When I was just eight weeks old, I was rescued from a hoarding situation in California with my seven sisters. We were underweight and sick and needed to be put on antibiotics right away. My face and underbody were covered in scars that I have since grown into. I was also covered in bite wounds and infections and had a huge abscess on the right side of my face that left my skin a little droopy. As a result of my past, I tend to be a little anxious and scared at times. I am friendly, just nervous. When it comes to people, I am good with volunteers but sometimes growl at doctors when I first meet them. I am most comfortable around women, especially older women. I like men too, I just require a little patience before I warm up to them. I feel most comfortable when there are no surprises, so naturally children make me a little nervous. I may growl as they approach since I am unsure of what is going to happen; the older children are the more comfortable I am. I am a curious pup, but I am also very shy. Strange dogs make me nervous and I will stare them down as my muscles stiffen. My foster family would likely tell you that I seem submissive or scared of other dogs and that it would be best if I was the only dog at first. I've heard rumors that some dogs like to cuddle with cats, but that's not me! I think they look like chew toys and I wouldn't do well living in a house with one. I love adventure, especially when it involves water! I also enjoy going for walks, but I do pull strongly on the leash. I get so excited by all the new smells I forget my manners! I always think car rides are a good idea, so I jump right in, but my nerves cause me to pant and whine sometimes making me a little carsick. I am a good boy inside the house and can be left home alone, but I do feel some separation anxiety and have been known to bark or whine. I have been successful in the past when left in a quiet room in a crate. I am allergic to chicken and I'm required to be on a diet with limited or no grain foods while also avoiding beef. I take fish oil supplements to help my itchy skin caused by my allergies. I am an otherwise strong and healthy boy. Historically, black dogs, especially black pitbulls, have been hard to adopt. I am a happy and loving pup who wants nothing more than a family of my own to create memories with. If you think we would make a good match please fill out an application for adoption. I look forward to meeting you!
