About Dot

Bearded Collie / Lab
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they may have been euthanized in a high-kill shelter. Dot, now 5 weeks old and 7 lbs ( estimated to be full grown at about 40 - 45 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on Dot's pregnant mom. They responded just in time and just one week later, Dot and her 11 siblings were born (sadly two have since passed away). Dot is starting out her life with great energy She's a sweet/loving and super-healthy pup with the cutest pudgy belly ever. Since she's only experienced very kind handling and respect in her life, Dot is blooming into a happy go lucky girl with fun and silliness on her mind...and then puppy crashing into a deep sleep. Since Dot is just a tiny baby, she's a blank slate who is very open to a kind and patient human showing her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Dot will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by force- free group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Since Farfel's feels very strongly about giving Dot the best possible start in life, we're not willing to adopt out to a home that's unwilling to participate in a force-free training protocol. We're happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement trainers in your area. We're open to Dot finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of commitment and energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Dot loves children as well...we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in play and fun as well as training. Kids are an integral part of a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's well-adjusted future behavior. Farfel's isn't willing to place Dot with a family that works full-time outside of the home unless special arrangements are made. It's not in her best interest as a puppy in her developmental stages to spend these long hours alone. A family that is willing to make arrangements for doggie daycare or a dog-walker/hiker will be given special consideration. Dot will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. Dot is too young to be spayed at this time. When she's ready, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Dot's spay and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Dot is growing and learning about her wonderful life in a foster home in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful puppy with the great personality. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Dot, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
