About Chewy

Meet Chewy! This one year old boy is absolutely gorgeous and loving! He is Shih Tzu and a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier with an absolutely stunning coat that is hypoallergenic and non-shedding. He is on the bigger side of a small dog classification as he weighs about 20 pounds. Chewy and his brother Martin (also listed for adoption) came from an apartment in Bakersfield. Their Mom had them since they were 7 weeks old but had recently gotten ill and moved to an apartment which was difficult for her to keep them in. She originally purchased them from a backyard breeder. When they came into rescue they were filthy and had ticks but they have since had a bath and a grooming and were extremely well behaved. Chewy is about as sweet as can be! He will sit on your lap in the car and will follow you everywhere. In rescue he is in a private foster home with German Shepherds, small dogs and cats and gets along well with everyone. He is a non-barker, enjoys walks on a leash an is housebroken. His adoption fee includes his neuter, current vaccinations including rabies, microchip, flea and tick treatment, collar and leash. Adoption fee does apply. As we pre-screen via email ONLY please tell us a bit about you such as your lifestyle, activity level, work schedule, area you live in, house or apartment, how many other adults, children and pets in the household, where your pet stays when you are out and where your pet sleeps. We will happily place him with children as well. Shih Tzu, Poodle, Wheaten breeds etc. requiring grooming and maintenance to prevent their coats from getting matted. Regular groomings at about 6 week intervals are necessary. Please note that we are not affiliated with any other rescue and that we do all of our pre-screening via email and not by phone.
