I'm Gia, a 7.5 month old (Anatolian) Shepherd mix and currently weigh ~40 lbs. I have very soft, short, double-coated fur and with what my mom says is a cute little corkscrew tail, it is suspected that I am mixed with Akita. I am a very shy girl. I really want to play with you, but I struggle to trust. I am getting more comfortable with being loved on as long as you move slowly and gently. I have recently discovered I love ear and butt scratches and just found out how AMAZINGLY wonderful belly rubs feel. Maybe one day I'll be a snuggler, but it will take time and patience. I love all kinds of toys, but squeaky toys are my all-time favorite. Empty water bottles are also fascinating. A good chew toy like a bully stick will not be turned down either! I am typically a quiet girl, but every once in a while you'll hear me howl. Mom says it's the cutest sound. She also says I make a great watchdog because I will bark when I hear an unfamiliar sound or see an unfamiliar person, but I'm not overbearing with my barking. I have only been in my foster home for a short time, so I am not yet house-trained. I guess you could say I'm a work in progress. I am extremely fearful of leashes and will freeze up when I have one on, but we are working on that too. I do LOVE to run in wide open spaces, so a nice fenced yard would be good for me '| but until I learn to trust you, catching me can be a bit of a challenge. My foster mom keeps my leash on while I'm running around. She says it makes it easier to catch me and helps me get used to having one on. I am currently fostered with my sibling, Mia. We get along VERY well and can even eat out of the same food bowl at the same time. I just met the resident dog in my foster home. I love her so much. She is extremely dog-friendly and I LOVE playing with her. She's confident and helps me be more confident too-just the kind of dog sibling I need. I have not yet been tested with cats, so more to come on this. My fear of fast movement and loud or unfamiliar noises requires me to be in a home with older kids (12 & up) who know who to approach a dog and can be gentle and patient with me. I will need an experienced dog owner and a family willing to invest in professional dog training. With a little time, patience and love, I will blossom into a confident girl.
