About Scout-ADOPTION PENDING

Whenever a Terrier or Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are generally very loving, super- smart and wonderful best friends. They tend to fit well into a family setting and make excellent companions for virtually every activity. Sometimes rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy....but place them in a home with an involved and very loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine! Scout is one of these great dogs. He's a pleaser and is overjoyed when he gets praise for being a great dog. Scout is just about 4 - 6 months old...such a great age - old enough to be acquiring adult skills and is an easygoing and very loving guy to be around. He has left his babyish behaviors behind and is working on being the best adult dog he can be. Scout weighs just about 11 lbs (anticipated full-grown weight of approximately 18 - 22 lbs) ..a perfect weight for a couch companion or lap dog while also being very capable of enjoying long walks or hikes with his family. As a super-smart puppy, Scout is a great student and is just waiting for a forever family to teach him the wonders of his world. If he is trained with a positive reinforcement trainer (and great treats), given tons of kind attention and socialization with both humans and other dogs, he will turn into a self-confident guy who will be a wonderful companion. Scout has all the elements working in his favor since he's starting out with a great temperament and a puppyish desire to please. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Farfel's would like to place Scout in a home with either active retirees or a very involved family with older, dog-loving kids who are motivated to provide him with physical exercise and mental stimulation. Scout would love being out in the sunshine walking the paths of Colorado, window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune his urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With love and consistency, Scout will also be comfortable with being alone and know that his family will always return. He'll learn this with consistent behavioral boundaries and human leadership present in his life. Scout has the softest hair that will shine with great care. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and excellent nutrition (a salmon oil supplement will be a great lifelong addition to a healthy diet for coat care and longevity). This protocol will keep Scout's cottony-soft coat healthy and shining. Scout will be up to date on his vetting. We're hoping that he will also be neutered when he arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too many dogs and too few vets to treat them in this industrial area of new Mexico. If Scout doesn't get neutered or microchipped, Farfel's will cover all costs for him to be chipped and fixed at our vet in Denver after his arrival on transport.
