About Max

Max was rescued from the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha, Nebraska in 2005. He was one year old, very large and active. After he was observed to meet and greet every human and dog he ever met,I knew he would make a great pet therapy dog. He is a certified pet therapy dog through Pets for Life and the R.E.A.D. Program. Max is now 13 years old. Due to his physical disabilities and my physical disabilities I am no longer able to care for him. His physical disabilities include weakness and arthritis in his back legs making it difficult to get up and down. My physical disabilities include both arms that are weak and arthritic, so I am unable to lift him to stand up. However, once he is up he is just fine, but tires easily. I am looking for a couple or family that can care for a dog in his senior years, preferably that has a yard and possibly other senior animals. He sleeps a lot, so he would probably not be compatible with young, energetic children.
