*UPDATE: Lizzie's sore is healing well, and she is now vaccinated. Her hips are in good condition and she is heartworm negative and is currently on Heartguard. Lizzie is terrified of most kids. She is never aggressive with any people, adult or child, but she is very afraid of toys, balls, loud play, normal kid stuff. If you have an active child who wants to play fetch or wrestle around with a dog, Lizzie is not the dog for you. She doesn't know how to play with people right now. She can learn, but it will take a lot of work and patience. She has been abused and still hasn't adjusted to life outside of a cage. I am re-homing her because of this. She is terrified of my kids. I can't stress this enough. She does fine with an extremely calm child who doesn't run around and play hot wheels and make loud noises. She is NOT ok with your average kid.She isn't aggressive, she just hides and shakes and pants. It's really stressful on her. So I prefer to place her in a home with no young children. Lizzie is a gorgeous German Shepherd Dog. She has a beautiful sable colored coat and huge, expressive ears. She really is a pretty girl. She has been abused by someone. The story I got when I got her is that she was rescued from a puppy mill. She had her last litter in November 2017. They said it was her 4th or 5th litter. She seems to have little to no exposure to anything, and it seems like someone has beaten her. She is terrified of everything. She is afraid of my son's hot wheels, any type of loud noise etc. The sight of a ball moving sends her running to her kennel in terror. She refused to go out the front door for several days because someone had moved a chair out of it's normal place. She is an extremely fearful dog. I don't mind this, I'm ok with working with her. But she is so afraid of my kids that she is not making any progress at all. She wants to be loved on, she is just SO scared. She is a very sweet dog, and will warm up to a calm person within a day or two. She loves to be loved on and snuggled. She is somewhat dominant with other dogs, but nothing out of the ordinary. She warms up to other dogs quickly and enjoys playing with them. The person I got her from said that she was mean to her small dog. I have not seen her with small dogs, so I don't really know. We have never had a problem with her not getting along with our other German Shepherd Dog or with other medium to large dogs in the community. I have no idea about cats. We have stray cats in the area and she doesn't chase them. The person I got her from said she does well with livestock, chickens, rabbits, etc., and as I said, she isn't aggressive with people at all. She loves to ride in the car or truck or in an ATV. She is almost a totally different dog when she goes for a ride and forgets to be afraid of everything. She is kind of potty trained. She does pretty good most days, but if she is afraid of something she does have accidents if you don't watch her. She doesn't have accidents in her kennel. I do have papers verifying her purebred status, but I have no idea where they are. We are remodeling and everything is out of place. I may not be able to find them. Lizzie is a super loving dog, and she just needs the right person to work with her and help her adjust to having a life outside of her kennel. She doesn't mind being in her kennel, especially with a bone or a Kong toy filled with treats! Her kennel is her safe place, so I suggest that you do provide one. She does ok being left out of her kennel at night, but I have always kenneled her when she is left home alone. She doesn't require a lot of space as long as She gets walks in a few times a week. She is very strong, and she does pull when she walks. I have used a harness and that doesn't work at all for me. I have to use a pinch collar, and she does ok with that. Still pulls a little, but not much. She weighs about 80lbs, and is the same length as my male GSD, with shorter legs. The adoption fee is negotiable for the right family.I will require a spay contract, and she must be spayed within 30 days. This contract will specify that if you fail to spay her within 30 days, I will take her back and you will lose the adoption fee. You will need to show me your ID, and record your ID number on the spay contract.
