Did a fairy godmother place a special charm in the shape of a crescent moon on Tucker's back? It would seem so (for proof, take a peek at his online photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/tucker ), but Tucker's recent past has certainly been less than charmed. His humans experienced misfortune, leaving Tucker an orphan, and neighbors helped out until New Rattitude stepped in. The name 'Tucker' in Old Dutch means 'to tug sharply,' and that is exactly what this well-mannered pup will do to your heartstrings. Tucker is a perfect gentleman, who has learned multiple commands and endearing routines over his 9 years. Hearing 'sit,' he sits nicely for a treat. When it's mealtime, Tucker, a fit 14 1/2 lbs., immediately goes into his crate, sits, and waits for his food. At the word 'crate,' he'll go to his crate for whatever reason you may have, although he's house-trained and trustworthy loose in your house. First thing in the morning, he goes to the door and waits to be let out. At the sound of the leash coming out, he'll walk over and sit at your feet, patiently waiting to see what adventures today's walk might hold. Once outside, he may get a bit eager and pull on the leash, but he's quickly improving his leash manners by learning to focus attention on his foster mom. While Tucker doesn't know 'roll over' as a command, he is quite cuddly and likely to roll over just to get a belly scratch from adults, older kids, and probably even dog-savvy younger children. As much as he enjoys his people and relishes their attention, he's very undemanding. Tucker is not into fetching or hunting. He has zero prey drive and gets along great with other dogs and cats too. He won't object, however, if you'd like to fetch him for a snuggle under the covers in your bed or for some playtime with you or a canine buddy. In fact, this social fellow would like to have a laid-back dog or human at home with him most of the time for company. Seldom does he bark as long as he can see you, but being left outside alone will prompt barking. Tucker's favorite command? That would be 'stay,' as in, 'Tucker would like to stay by your side and love you forever.' Can your heartstrings feel it yet...that tug? ------------------------------------------------------ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING TUCKER, please go to new Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.
