About Coco

Meet Coco! She is an 8 year old, 9.5lbs Chihuahua that was owner surrendered with 3 other dogs. She has spent most of her life in a kennel so she is new to the life of luxury, but like most of us girls, she is adapting very quickly, though she doesn't know how to play with toys yet. She is Heart Worm negative, microchipped, and up to date on shots. She is a bit timid at first, but once she gets to know you, she wants to be by your side all the time. She is a very sweet girl and she loves to snuggle with everybody and is especially good with kids. We are working on potty training by using training pads inside within a confined area and so far she has been a bit slow to learn, but that is not unexpected, given her background of spending most of her time in a kennel. She will make progress given a reliable routine to go outside and lots of positive enforcement. She is OK with cats if they are laid back but can be defensive around them if they get too close and may chase them if she has the chance. She does better around smaller dogs as she can feel threatened by larger dogs unless they are very calm. We would prefer she go to a home where there is another dog about her size and temperament. She isn't anxious when left but is used to cuddling up with another dog when her new family isn't home. She is getting used to walking on a leash and is making good progress for a Rookie. She currently sleeps in an open crate with a blanket but would love the opportunity to sleep with her human if given the chance. She already knows how to use steps to get up on the bed so she's training hard! If you are looking for a lover that will never leave you, she might be the furever lover for you.
