About Izzy

Meet Izzy. Izzy is a male Chihuahua Mix who is 1 to 1-1/2 years old and is black/tan/white in color. Izzy weighed 5.3 lbs. on 04/12/18, but his foster mom thinks he gained at least 1 pound since being in foster care. Izzy is being fostered in the Jeannette, Pennsylvania area. �%A0 Izzy is an owner surrender. Since coming to Puppy Pals Rescue, he has been neutered, updated on all of his shots, heart worm and fecal tested (both results negative), micro-chipped, and had his baby teeth pulled. He was examined by a veterinarian and no problems were found. �%A0 He is not totally house-trained, but he is working on it and doing very well. He is a very smart little guy. He learned to use the doggy door that leads out into a fenced-in back yard the very first day he came to his foster mom and dad's home. He has been using it to go out to potty, play in the yard, or just go out to bark at the deer. When it's raining outside, he prefers to go on a pad. He is crated trained, but whines and barks when you close the door. He will eventually settle down and fall asleep. �%A0 Izzy is food aggressive. He growls if another dog gets near his food so separating him from the other dogs at feeding time is recommended. He is a barker and a chewer, but we are working on both issues. He probably would benefit from some obedience training. �%A0 It doesn't seem like anyone took Izzy for many walks on a leash because he tries biting on the leash as soon as you put it on, but he is learning. He does well riding in cars. He loves to play with toys and other dogs. He also loves to cuddle and give kisses. His foster mom took him to her groomer's to meet the resident cats, and he seemed to be perfectly fine being around them. �%A0 Izzy is a very active little guy with a great personality! Everyone who meets Izzy falls in love with him. A home with a fenced-in yard and another pup for him to play with would be great!
