About Nugget

Nugget is a gentle, loving red Australian Cattle Dog. She came from a horrible puppy mill/hoarding/abuse situation but has somehow managed to regain her trust in humans and love of life. She's still on the reserved side but is coming out of her shell more each day. We believe her to be about 4 years old and she rides well in the car and has nice leash manners. Although she still prefers the security of her crate, she likes to explore in the yard and is respectful of her canine buddies. She's on the lower energy side and loves to cuddle next to you on the couch. Nugget was not exposed to much of the outside world so is cautious of new situations but still curious about the world around her. She really is amazing considering what her life was like before she was rescued. Nugget was kept in a crate nearly all the time, was forced to have many litters of pups and lost her front teeth from chewing on the bars of her crate in an attempt to free herself. She lived in filthy, flea-infested conditions and as a result her skin became infected and her fur fell out. Somehow, despite all the horror, Nugget has managed to regain her trust in people and joy for living and is now ready to share that joy with a special, caring person or family. She is house-trained and crate-trained but still learning normal dog behavior and boundaries. She's spayed, micro-chipped, up-to-date on shots, weighs about 30lbs., has a red speckled coat and soulful eyes that look into your soul. Nugget would be a great match for a compassionate, mellow person or family looking for a sweet companion for quiet walks and just hanging out. She would do best with another calm packmate, would benefit from more socialization and training, and will make a wonderful companion as she continues to gain confidence and learn that the world can be a kind place. Although untested with cats we believe she would do fine if properly introduced. Nugget is a resilient, amazing soul who has so much more life to live and love to give. Could you be her savior?
