AS OF 7/19 I AM CURRENTLY WORKING THROUGH RESPONSES. I AM LOOKING FOR A PERMANENT HOME FOR THESE TWO ~ TOGETHER. A home that understands FIDs. ~~Resellers don't waste our time.~~ . . Because I want to be able to do a home visit prior to the adoption and because I want it to be easy to bring them back if something should happen, I prefer a local family (Broward, WPB, Dade). If I can't find a match locally, I will consider a longer distance. (If you are outside my tri-county area, but would like to let me know of your interest, please respond anyway. I will contact those folks first if I change my location requirement) . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TWO young (2-3yr) Cockatiels need a 'BP' ~ a 'Bird Parent' in parrot friendly home. Both birds are loving. Grey/Wht = 'Sugar' Yellow/Grey = 'Sweet Pea'. SP is a 'Special Needs' girl. She only has one eye & deformed feet that prevent her from gripping a perch. She loves trying to fly (I toss her in the air in a soft landing zone area & she just flaps her heart out and totally cracks me up!} . Sugar is fully flighted and will sit quietly in any area that SP is located. Both sing beautifully & can learn whistled songs (Sugar working on theme to 'Andy Griffin'). Both are 'rescue birds' & healthy. Sugar eats seed, pellet & fresh food. SP is learning to eat fresh. For now I compensate for SP's mostly seed diet, by giving her a small syringe filled with baby food 3-4 times a week. This only takes 2-3 minutes to do as she easily accepts it. . They are 'social' with other birds (that don't try to attack them....). I have a travel cage that will go with them, and some special items to aid 'SP', but I want a home that can provide a bigger 'place' that can be open during the day. SP cuddles & is happy sitting anywhere you put her as long as she can see you (or Sugar). . Sugar is slow to trust, but once he does he will hop onto your finger and will sit on you. . I will require a home visit prior to finalizing adoption. Prefer that there are no other pets in the household (other birds or calm dogs that are used to FIDs are OK). And I will require a 'wellness checkup' (with blood & stool included) with an avian vet after they have been in your home for 90 days. I prefer this in lieu of an adoption fee as it will provide an important health baseline. The checkup for both birds will cost around $200 of which I will pay half($100). . These are not 'throw away' birds. They are about 1.5 - 2 yrs old and may live another 10+ years in a loving home. I would prefer to adopt them to someone that has pet bird experience & access to an Avian vet if needed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ If interested & would like more info/pics/etc, send me an informative email as to why these FIDs would be a good family member. A close up pic of Sweet Pea, can be seen on a separate listing here: . Post ID#18-04-14-00038 . Email me: [email protected] or 'tweet' to me on Twitter @Captmorganandme . Please Note: Inquiries that include social media links or related info demonstrating your bird fancy will be considered first.
