We hope somebody steps up to adopt Maxwell before we highjack him for ourselves! Our dapper little dude is a pistol. This handsome 12 year old Chihuahua has a 'rubber face' that makes some of the most comical facial expressions. Maxwell was surrendered by his owner to NYC ACC and faced an uncertain future because seniors are the most at risk for euthanasia. When we first met Maxwell, he wasn't feeling very well and seemed a little out of sorts. As he healed, his personality popped like a diminutive firecracker. Maxwell is a confident little boy, and has navigated the canine politics in his foster home with ease. He has bonded with his new Chihuahua and Min Pin housemates, and could easily join a multi-small-dog or feline household, with proper introduction. Maxwell is an senior dog, who is well past the chaotic puppy years. Sadly, folks offer overlook senior dogs, and they have so much still to offer. Maxwell would be a great addition to the home of moderately active adults, or seniors, who will provide the leadership and mental stimulation that he needs. He strikes us as a very outgoing little boy. He loves to be with his people, but could also do well home alone during the work day. Maxwell loves to be part of the action and travels beautifully. He is the kind of dog that you can cart around anywhere. He can be suspicious of some strangers, but adapts nicely to change once he trusts his pack leader Maxwell has good house manners and is house and paper trained, although adopters should be prepared to troubleshoot the occasional accident that may occur during his transition to a new routine. Max is in excellent health, and has been recently neutered, and has had a full dental procedure done, as well as preoperative blood work, which was all within normal range. Adopters can use this as a baseline value going forward. He has been vaccinated for Rabies and DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza), and Canine Influenza. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
