We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a beautiful young dog. It becomes an emotion of compassion when they're as uncared for (and clearly unloved) as Whitney. Upon leaving the shelter, Whitney will get a sudsy bath, a grooming (most likely a shave to rid Whitney of thick matts & filth) and soothing lotion on her skin to start Whitney on the road to a healthy, cottony-soft coat that speaks of her breed mix. Whitney will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (salmon oil is a great lifelong supplement) to keep her non-shedding coat gorgeous, super-healthy and matt-free. Whitney is just about to be vetted and then brought to a New Mexico foster home to receive pure love and begin her education. As shelter personnel got to know Whitney, they found a very sweet and kind ShihTzu...with a bit of Maltese in the mix. At about 2.5 years old and 13 lbs, Whitney is very loving and so very sweet that she's become a fun and rewarding experience for all who know her. Whitney is a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. She would excel in positive reinforcement group obedience classes learning the skills to be able to accompany her family out in the world with excellent behavior. This regimen of training and socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans will make Whitney a very well-adjusted companion. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. A family that's a great match for Whitney would be active retirees or a younger family with dog-crazy older kids. Whitney would be overjoyed to spend her days with retirees who will include her in their daily lives. She would be thrilled to come along and provide companionship with her sweetness and loyalty. A younger family that works part- time or from home would also be a great choice. Whitney would be happy to be an office companion and foot warmer throughout the day. We feel that it's very important that Whitney is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths with her family and enjoying the sunshine. Whitney can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere that a sweet dog is allowed. Whitney will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy dogs. Farfel's has requested that Whitney be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for her spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Whitney will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/7/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this sweet. cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Whitney, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
